Well, like several others on this fine site..I spent K-9th grade at JDS...and I can still remember every inch of that building like it was yesterday, at least the way it was when i was there..I know it has changed. As for little ole me..after JDS I went to Churchill (with the likes of Steve Cohen, Lara Saidman, and David Mosse), then onto Brandeis University ( with the likes of Ari Sunshine and Tova Geller)..so basically...wherever you go, there you are...and usually with a JDSer..after graduating with a BA in pysch and pre-med, I went to podiatric/medical school in philadelphia. After attaining my doctorate I was in baltimore for two years getting my hospital training (lots of surgery and whatnot) and now I am just a dumb doctor in rockville who plays alot of golf (they call me Moshe Woods when my game is on !!) and owes alot of money to the government ( anyone know how to consolidate loans?)
So, anyway..It has been nice reading and learning about all of you on this site..I think you are all very successful and interesting. Best wishes to all !!
Efraim Berkovich says:
I graduated UMd with a MS in EE (thesis on parallel computer design) in Dec. 98. Moved to NYC in 1999 to work for an investment firm. Living on the Upper West side right now.
Annie Schreiber (nee Chapman) says:
Since the reunion, I have earned a second Master's degree (one is in infant/early childhood special ed and the other is in social work). My most exciting accomplishment has been giving birth to my two wonderful sons. Louis was born 10/18/01 and Jared was born 4/22/05.
I didn't graduate from JDS (left after 7th grade), but I was browsing around the web site, oddly enough, because my DAUGHTER just started kindgergarten at JDS. Anyway, I thought I'd register. I'm always interested in getting in touch with old friends...
I got married in 1996 to a southern belle from Charlotte, NC and on Leap Day 2000 we had our first child - Emily. Kim is a technical recruiter (for any of you techies looking for work, call her) and I am in the process of opening up an audiobook rental store in Loehmann's Plaza, Rockville. Should open in Septmeber 2000.
Life is going very well and I am totally loving being a mommy. Joshua is 21 months old already! And a total joker! I really miss my friends from SSDS, I'd Love to catch up on what has been going on in life.
Chaim and I had a baby! On March 16. His name is Yisroel Leib. We're still here in Perth and I've settled into the 'full-time-mom' thing. It's great!
I'm a dad to Roee, born on the 4th of July (2001). Don't have time for much more as he hasn't yet figured out for himself what sleep is. He is AMAZING, and I'm being really objective here...
We had a beautiful baby girl, born May 20,2003. Her name is Ella Rose Gorodetzky. She has a website with lots of cute pictures. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/gorodetzky/
We've been in Denver since 2000, and I'm still astonished by how sunny it is all the time. We were delighted to welcome our daughter, Miranda Rose, to the world on August 27, 2002. Our son Jamie (almost 4 years old) has been enjoying pre-school at the JCC. My husband, Jack, is still a music professor at the University of Denver. I'd love to get in touch with our classmates, and if you happen to be in the Rocky Mountain region, feel free to drop by!
I had to leave Dell Magazines (sadly) when Ari got accepted to the Harvard MBA Class of 2000, so now we are living in Harvard Graduate housing overlooking scenic Charles River. I work as a freelance editor through an agency that contracts out work, thus I don't have to find any work myself! Plus I usually get to work off my computer at home and can make my own hours-- ah, the perks of the transient life! Once Ari finishes his MBA, I will start deciding on a 'real' job, depending on where we end up living. In the meantime, I will enjoy my freedom!
It is scary, but true, I now have two children! Wendy and I are the proud parents of Madeline (born 6/19/01) and Stephen (born 1/9/99).
I'm currently drudging through graduate school in public policy at Harvard and working part-time at the Harvard Institute for International Development.
We are living in St Louis where Jeff is completing a fellowship in nuclear medicine at Malinkrodt. Our daughter Elyssa is a happy, healthy beautiful one year old. I am back at work, teaching high school special ed.
I graduated NYU school of medicine last year and I'm currently an intern in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. My wife is completing her residency in pediatrics at the University of Chicago. We moved to Chicago after medical school to be close to my parents; they moved here a few years ago because my father got a nice position with the University of Chicago (it's so strange to me that they're no longer in Maryland). We have been very happy with the move.
I am currently in my first year of med school at GW. Also, concurrently working on a masters in biotechnology at Johns Hopkins.
I graduated with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Michigan in May, 1998. I am in Chicago working at the Jewish Federation, specifically with donor-advised funds. I see Peter Fidler (working at LaSalle Bank) and Lara Saidman (working for a Federal Judge) on a regular basis - it's nice to have JDSers with me in the Midwest.
I am almost done with my internship year in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore. Danny Reich (Class of 89) is one of my co-interns. He is doing a preliminary year before starting a neuro-radiology residency. Me wife, Sharon Feinstein, will be starting a residency in Family Medicine at University of Maryland in June. We have a wonderful son name Eli (not short for anything; pronounced like Elie Wiesel), who just turned 17 months old. He has a new word every day (almost).
Lori Goldman says:
Lori and Brett Zbar welcomed Sabrina Jane into the world on October 4th. She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. and measured 20 3/4 inches. Mom and baby are doing great!Since college graduation, I've been working in publishing, first in New York and most recently in Boston. I have just moved back to D.C. where I am currently planning my (gasp!) wedding to Brett Zbar for this April, after which I will begin taking pre-med classes. Best wishes to all JDS'ers out there.
Eliot Goldstein says:
I am currently working as an International Relations Associate for the Joint Distribution Committee in Israel. I mainly work with VIP's and UJA missions coming from abroad to see our work with Israel's most disadvantaged populations. I get to travel all around Israel and hang out with cool people and see innovative and creative programs addressing israel's most pressing social needs.I live with 2 buddies in Jerusalem and am enjoying the lifestyle and political intensity of Israel.
I am still commuting into New York with my husband as I finish my fourth year working for United Synagogue. I am also busy becoming involved with our local Jewish community through our synagogue and Haddassah.
I still live in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district, where the words on the street are, as ever, 'doses' and 'kind buds.' I was fortunate enough to be a pre-IPO employee of an Internet company that successfully went public last August, blowing my tenuous plans for law school out of the water while I kick back and vest my stock options. Duncan and I are doing great, with the occasional uproar whenever he tries to bring another questionable British 'food' product into the house. The plan right now is to stick around SF for a few more years while I vest, then take off for a year and travel around the world. I recently saw Mike Plancey when he was in town on a business trip. He bought me filet mignon on his corporate Amex and is welcome back any time. Thank you sugar daddy! So that's the general way things are going. I can't believe how many people have kids and spouses now...and I'm glad things seem to be going very well for you.
I am working for KPMG Public Sector Risk group in Toronto, where I live with my wife Sarah Lambert of almost two years.
Having run like hell from the isolation of Connecticut, I am now happily and comfortably ensconced in the DC area. Yes, I'm still a professional Jew, but I'm the closest thing to a Shabbos goy there is. Get in touch if you're in the area!
Still director of licensing for an apparel company in the garment center and selling to all my favorite stores: Wal*Mart, Target, K-Mart, etc.. On another note, I'm happy to announce that my friend and I just officially launched our home furnishings company. It's called D3 Designs and we're doing pillows and matching duvets/throws to start. Anyone in the market for some help in the home decor area?
Wendy and I are expecting our first child in June, living in the house we bought last Spring up in Riverdale. I'm still director of distance learning and educational technology at JTS. In my (copious) free time, I'm working with a new synagogue in Battery Park City, which may have dubious distinction of being the closest functioning synagogue to ground zero.
I am working for Booz Allen & Hamilton, Inc. They are one of the 'Big 8' Consulting firms. You can find out all about them at www.bah.com. I am the corporate webmaster for them, and spend my day playing with all kinds of new technologies. I finished my masters about a year and a half ago, and now I'm working on an MBA. Law and the internet is getting more interesting by the day, so I may just decide to add a J.D. in there too. I just got married to Linda (formerly Kohn) a girl I met a GW. She is from Miami, and that is where the wedding was. We have pictures (of course) at http://www.hellers.com/wedding. Linda is working on her masters in education, and wants to be a teacher.
Adam Hochman says:
Moved back to DC May of 2001. Bought a townhouse and living in downtown Bethesda (guess I can't ever get away from this town). Engaged to be married in November, 2003. Engaged to Valerie Miller, an architect from North Bethesda. Ironically, had I not gone to JDS, she and I would've been at the same high school (WJ). Trying (painfully) to do Improv comedy in my spare time to fulfill a dream (of the last 20 minutes) to be on 'Whose Line Is It Anyways.' We can all dream, can't we? Working as a government consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, where I get to tell clients like the IRS how to be more efficient in wasting taxpayer dollars...
Naomi Jacobs says:
I'm still pursuing my Ph.D. in Biblical studies at Brandeis University. I've learned all kinds of strange things like Akkadian (language of the ancient Babylonians and Assyrians) and even stranger things like departmental politics. Otherwise, I'm having a good time living in Boston. Highlights so far: giving my first conference paper to an enthralled audience of seven ;-), playing in a percussion band, writing poetry, painting, doing various activist work, and dreaming of books to write. Next semester I get to teach my first class by myself--freshman composition, following, maybe, in the steps of Dr. Cook. I'm impressed with all the different activities all of you are doing. More power to you!
My girls Allene and Isabella are now 6 and 2 and keep me so busy I finally had to buy a minivan achieving soccer mom status(only with us its swimming/gymnastics). I'm still into landscape design and am working to get my Master gardener status.
I recently graduated as the Valedictorian of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University with an MSW. I am a full time Social Worker. I run a unit that helps people living with HIV/AIDS. I will be married 5 years this January.
After my eight year tenure at JDS, I attended 'uppper' school at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Md. Shortly thereafter, I was lured away to the sunny paradise at Syracuse University where I remained through December of 1994, studying Philosophy, Psychology, and Linguistics. Returning Washington DC, I began working on a U.S. Presidential campaign. Falling short of winning the U.S. Presidency (I still stand by my conviction that *I* had nothing to do with that) I toughted my management consulting skills for Booz Allen & Hamilton Inc. After a few years and a couple of jobs later, I now work for Cognizant Technology Solutions as an e-business strategy consultant. I also got engaged to the wonderful Barbara Mendelson of Texas (stole the last Jew from there, I think). I still drink Kool-Aid.
After 12 years at the University of Maryland, I finished my Ph.D. in May 2002 and got married a month later. After 30 years in College Park, I crossed the country to southern California--where the traffic is even worse than in DC. I'm currently a Lecturer in American Studies at Cal State Fullerton, and my wife, Christine Broussard, who is an immunologist, is an Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of La Verne.
I'm currently working as an Attorney-Advisor at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, in the Office of Administrative Law Judges.
In October 2002 I married Bess Gordon (that's right, Bess from the class of 1992 at JDS, that's right, Bess who lived across the street from me in Potomac and who carpooled with me to JDS). We live in Manhattan where I am an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell and she is a VP at the advertising agency Foote Cone & Belding. Glad to hear that everyone is doing so well!
I am so happy to announce the birth of our little bundle of joy, Dafna Goldschmidt. She was born on June 24, 2003 and shortly after her birth, we moved back to Israel. I am at the moment a stay at home mom (can't believe it yet) and my husband is a Professor at the Ono Academic Institute in Kiryat Ono. We are still adjusting back to life here. So far it looks like it is going to be just fine.
I am currently working as a publisher at a publishing house in Georgetown. I graduated from BU in 12/93 and I have been working in publishing ever since. I have worked for publishers both in DC and in NY.I got married to Martin Huberman in September 1998. Marty graduated from Landon ('87) Columbia University in ('91) and Columbia Journalism ('92).
Here is a little update - I am almost 6 months pregnant. The baby (sex unknown) is due on March 23, 2000.
Marty and I moved into our new home in the middle of November 1999.
After leaving JDS after 6th grade, I finished in the Rockville public school system (graduated Richard Montgomery '90) then went to U-MD College Park. Before graduating, I got married to Meira Cohen (07-02-95) then moved to Saint Louis, MO. She got tired of schooling there, so we moved to Boston where she got her second Master's degree. We're now moving back to Maryland (to the Baltimore area, we think) for her new job.I work as a technical trainer/network administrator, so I'm easily portable.
Hi-
Just wanted to send an update....our son, Avi, was born this past February exactly two years after his sister, Gabrielle. We have also returned to Maryland after spending a number of years on the Upper West Side and East Village in New York. I am currently at home with the kids and Jeremy is a Captain (eye doc) for the Army. We are currently stationed at Fort Meade. I would love to hear from anyone in the area. Its been years!!!

I married my highschool sweetheart Tali Michael in 1997. After graduating from UMCP in Dec. '98 I began working as an accountant at Beers & Cutler, PLLC in Vienna, VA as a staff accountant. Also, recently started an internet company with Tali.
I'm currently an associate at Williams & Connolly in Washington where I practice civil and white collar criminal litigation.
I have been working in New York for the last five-plus years, the last three as a junk bond analyst for Merrill Lynch. I'm glad Hochman has adopted the Cubs because it is one more team I get to make fun of him for.
My husband John and I had our first child, Jacob Dalton, on March 24, 2002. I am now working to strat my own business.
Working as a Senior Commercial Specialist for the U.S. Foriegn Commercial Service (Dep. of Commerce) at the American Embassy in Tel Aviv
Hi everyone, I am living in Park City, Utah with my new husband, Jose, and our two dogs, Maya and Taina. Jose and I met at Camp Judaea. I teach second grade and love the mountains. Come and visit! Love,
Shani
Who cares about the dogs or the mountains! I have beautiful 9 month old named Sofia. -what a miracle!
volunteering as a Paramedic at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad
Since returning from the Peace Corps last year, I've been working for a big Cathedral in NYC. I'm becoming a priest (kidding). Seriously, my major job has been to keep Scott Greene out of trouble here in New York. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
I'm in my third year of working for Worldcom. Yes. Still. I'm doing training for the high-end internet support division and am loving it. But what I'm loving more is my wonderful wife of 4 years, Kyra Schuster, and our adorable little baby boy, Avi Tzvi, who was born at the end of December 2002! Check out pictures of the little guy -- http://www.kyra-mike.net
I have abandoned Ralph Nader and the sheep for good. I needed to find a purer form of socialism, so I moved to South America and am now struggling with the Tupac Amaru rebels in Northern Peru. Workers of the World Unite!
Here's the update: Chai Yosef, our adorable little son, was born on Dec. 31 2001, just a bit after midnight. We are exhausted and ecstatic, luckily he's a very tolerant baby who is very understanding of the fact that his parents have no experience whatsoever... We're living in Modi'in, Ohr is working on his doctorate in Jewish Thought at BGU university in Beer Sheva, and I am working at the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (currently on maternity leave!)
Shai Shen-Orr says:
I'm currently beginning to study for a Master's program, at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot. My work nowdays evolves around BioInformatics (the Human Genome Project and all that stuff). I currently live in Tel-Aviv, with my wonderful girlfriend Michal.
For those of you whom I didn't tell at the reunion:I moved to New York in 1995. After tending bar and managing restaurants since 1993 (including helping to open two restaurants and doing almost 3 years at Tavern on the Green), I went into the wine biz. I work as the cellarmaster at the 21 Club, with the option of becoming one of their sommeliers in the next few years. So I'll be paid to drink from other people's bottles all night.
The reunion was surprisingly untraumatic, fun, and entertaining. Thank you, Tamara, for persuading me to come down to DC. It was fascinating to see everyone again.
Rachel Silberberg Sulkin has moved to San Francisco with her husband Jordan Sulkin. Elana (Waksal) Posner was matron of honor at her DC wedding.
Businessesman, basketball coach, and all around swell guy
My husband and I moved to Albany, New York in June, 2005. I am working as a clinical psychologist in a private practice and for Jewish Family Services. We like Albany, but are yet to experience an infamous winter here. See my website at www.anasobel.com. Our daughter, Amy Cara, was born in June (2006). We are having so much fun with her and she is getting very smiley.
After graduating from Cornell University, where I spent my final year living in big house with a bunch of friends including Peter Fidler, I worked in DC for three years. I worked in child policy for one year and psychiatry research at Children's Hospital for the following two years. I am currently going into my third year of a Ph.D. program in history at the University of Chicago and truly loving it.
I am currently working as a tax lawyer at Arnold & Porter in New York. Hi all!
Tamara Totah's home address, phone number, and activity information were removed by Dan
because her lawyer told him to.
Turner Consulting Group (that's my company) is doing fine. I have a very small real estate empire. I love my wife. She finished her Masters' of Public Health at Columbia and was, to my great nachas, the valedictorian! Wow! Being married, especially to a very smart person, is fantastic. I recommend it.
Hello and greetings from the south coast of sunny England. I left Hong Kong to spend a fantastic summer enjoying the heat in Europe, am now in the midst of obtaining UK work permit approval and setting up two technology companies, one a consultancy/technology incubator and the other an ASP joint venture with a local telco. If you ever find yourselves on this side of the pond, or want to check out the south coast/Bournemouth area, give a shout.
Yes, Michael and I are very surprised to be married to each other, after disliking one another for so many years. But we are really happy to have finally come to our senses, and it was wonderful to have such a great group of JDSers from our class - including Ana Sobel, Tova Geller, Yael (Ben David) Tamir, Jeremy Korr, Shimona Katz, Amit Golding, JJ Levine, Tammy (Fuchs) Gorodetzsky, Adam Roth, and Eitan Mendelowitz, as well as Dan Blumenthal's wife - there to celebrate with us at our wedding.NOTE (added June 28, 2004): Kayla Avia was born at 7:50AM on June 23. She was 19-1/2 inches long and weighed in at 7 lbs 2 oz. Mom and baby doing great. Photos at http://www.iraweiss.net/
I just wanted to update my address and add that we (Larry and I) just had a baby girl, Emily Nicole on 3/13/03.
